Hi, I'm having some security issues...

1) Can I change my IP address or block it using some kind of software? is it possible to change the ip address without being associated with my old one? I called my cable company and they told me that IP addresses change almost everyday automatically. is it true?
2) they told me also that DNS do not change frequently. is it possible to change manually my DNS? how?
3) after changing dns or ips, should I also clear my cache, cookies and browsing history?
I'm confused...thanks for any input

1) Depends. Totally dependent on the ISP. See the T&Cs.

2) DNS is the nature of the internet. Some sites move servers on occasion and this means they need new DNS numbers before you can get to them. Otherwise they don't change.

3) Its totally irrelevant as to whether you clear these items or not because they're issues that are not related to your physical internet connection.

What is prompting you to want to change your IP address? What specifically is the security issue you are experiencing? (Cable/broadband IPs seldom change daily, but some ISPs have different policies.)

its my fourth time that I get this trojan, win32 trojan downloader agent, I've downloaded the programs that somebody here told me to do so, installed AVG , super antispyware but I always get re-inffected, somebody told me that I should change or hide my IP address and DNS if possible to avoid future infections...
I posted my hijack this log on the trojan removal sections of this forum also...thanks

You can't hide your IP address, or you can't surf. Adelphia doesn't change IPs often, either. What you need is a good firewall, and to stay away from P2P sites. The malware experts will recommend appropriate firewall protection when your log is resolved.
