Changing drive letter designations

I have a hard drive ...my 'C' drive. and i have a DVD player that is currently my 'D' drive. I want to add another hard drive and call it 'D'

does anyone know how to change the letter designation of my DVD drive to 'E' so I can make the new hard drive 'D'?
