this is were my knowledge is exhausted, but i will be researching through my lunch break for you.

do you have a seperate sounds card?

Also how is the second set of jacks plugged into your MoBo? i have read that some people are having problems if they are installed incorrectly.

that would be an option, but why spend money when you already spent money on a good MoBo with the capabilities?

if ihave missed anthing i'm sure a tech will help,

i have read that disable cool'n'quiet in bios as this does not like WinXP Service Pack 2! worth a try i guess!

Did you build this system from scratch?

thanks, don't forget to disable the onboard sound when you do nstall the seperate card!

by the sound of it, your not the first problem to have sound card issues with this MoBo and no boubt you won't be the last, most others have changed to seperate sound cards,

Is there any hissing sounds when you plug/plug the cable? the hissing sounds (try the speakers on full volume) are a sign that the amplifer in the card is waiting for a signal.

next step is to check your default settings.

open control panel, then go sounds, have a look under the audio tagg, there should some settings, please check all these are correct. make sure that nothing looks suspect! make sure you have teh correct speaker set up set in the adance options!
