Yesterday when I attempted to start the BitTorrent program Azureus, the error dialog box popped up w/the message: Save of 'azureus.config' fails
C:\Documents and Settings\ReleaseEngineer.MACROVISION\Application Data\Azureus\azureus.config.saving (The system cannot find the path specified)

Some program is trying to highjack the regular Azureus directory path and create the one above. Has anyone else heard of some program or rootkit trying to do this? I have no clue what the significance of the 'ReleaseEngineer.MACROVISION' directory addition is. When I try to change the directory, it won't let me.

Looking through the registry showed that the location of Internet Explorer's Temporary Internet Files cache has also been changed to the same 'ReleaseEngineer.MACROVISION' directory. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there,

GeeksToGo does not provide support for P2P or torrent programs. While these programs in themselves may be legal, most of the things that they are used to attain are not. While you personally may be using these software for purely legitimate reasons, it is too difficult for us to differentiate between "good use" and "bad use" and any help we provide you might be found and used by people who use these software programs illegally.

If you are worried that you may have a virus or other of type of malware, please check out our Malware Forum, specifically this thread.

I am closing this topic, if you have any questions do not hesitate to PM me or another mod/admin.
