I have a Compaq Notebook running XP Home edition that the CPU usage is running at 100% all the time, and its really really really slow. It just recently started doing this, I'm not sure whats going on. Also just recently theres atleast 50 Processes running all the time, it wasn't that high before. If anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it, thank you.

Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.

jwinathome, we want to rule out malware before we try anything else, because it would be a waste of our time and wadeb_21's if it ended up being malware related. Which is almost always the case in these situations; especially since wadeb_21 said it just started happening and wasn't a gradual thing...
