Current status is that the pc seems to be running fine. however, it appeared to be running fine earlier today and then just crashed and took several attempts to get it restarted so it is just random how the pc plays up.

Do you know what could be causing not being able to click an active window at times and whats causing the pc to just freeze?

not really 100% confident that the pc will function 100% efficiently and feel it could just crash at any given time for no apparant reason

cheers

As a thought it may be dust bunnies inside your computer causing an overheating problem, but it definitely appears hardware related rather than software.

Is the power rating on your power supply unit sufficient, as the addition of an extra component or drive can exceed it's capabilities.

Is your fan making louder noises than previously

the pc can at times make louder noises than usual although im not sure if this is the fan or not. is the fan generally the only noise u can hear from a pc?

when u say extra addition of component or drive, what exactly do you mean? i have an external hard disk drive which is connected via the usb. also added 512mb of RAM about 8 montha ago as well as a new graphics card ( the ATI Radeon 9550 ).

i had thought dust had something to do with the poor perfromance of the pc and opened the pc and got rid of some large clumps of dust and this helped slightly but it is pretty clean inside now and the problems still persist.

U have any ideas or suggestions about whats going on or is there anyone on the forum who specialises in system crashes?

thanks

I would suggest that you repost in the Hardware forum http://www.geekstogo...pherals-f9.html I know it sounds a bit of a runaround but my hardware knowledge is limited. When you post on the forum reference this thread and state that you have no apparent malware http://www.geekstogo...c....html&st=15
