Although I personally don't like dual booting, there are many people with the need/desire to do this. I highly recommend this following guide:

Paul Thurott has put together a nice little series on vista. I highly recommend reading it.

You can also try Norton Partition Magic. I know that norton partition has had some problems with vista, but what I have seen from it it does a good job.
