Hi

Firstly, please forgive me as I will no doubt say something really silly. I am not au fait with the whole PC language but thought that you guys might be able to help me out.

I have a laptop operating on Vista. Two nights ago it stopped accessing the internet for no apparent reason. I disabled my wireless and tried the Lan connection to try and determine whether it was the router. No joy with the Lan connection. I tried my ISP and they have been hopeless. I can connect to my parent's wireless (same ISP) who live 4 doors away but not their LAN connection either.

I am not sure what information you need to be able to help me out. Please do let me know and I will try and post it asap.

My ISP are saying that my router is showing as connected. If they make me type ipconfig into the dos window is shows the IP address for my wireless router (even when not plugged in). My ISP have said it may be a problem with my network card. If I look in device manager, my network card says it is working properly and ll drivers etc are up to date. The card is Marvell Yukon 88E8055 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller.

I would really appreciate any help you can give as I am totally clueless about these things and stuck!

THanks again

When you plug in the LAN, type IP config, see if it has any IP address already manually assigned. Also, try rebooting your router.

Hi Supersam

Thanks for such a speedy reply! I have tried rebooting the router but no luck there either sadly. If I try ipconfig when attached to the LAN it does not specify a specific IP address. The selected option says 'obtain an IP address automaticall'. Does that help at all?

Thank you!

I am having the same issue with my ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe. I have the Nvidia and Yukon MOBO devices and the Yukon will always drop the connection within Vista X64. I also have Vista X86 installed and both controllers appear to work fine. This suggests to me it is a driver issue, but I loaded several different Yukon drivers without success. The system will keep the Yukon connected for only a short period of time. Even when I disable the Nvidia network device, I get the same issues.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
