AVG scanning weird folder

okay i don't know where this topic is supposed to go, but...whenever i run AVG, it starts scanning files from a folder with this path: C:\$recycle.bin\..
blahblahblah. i tried looking at C:\ with hidden files/folders shown, but i can't find this. it takes FOREVER to scan this folder, what is this??

This is the Windows Recycle Bin's physical location on the drive. It's a special Windows folder so it won't show up in Explorer but anti-virus programs like AVG can scan it.

so how come those files are still there? i run ccleaner regularly..
