My son (18 yrs) will finish his final year of school in November. It has become the thing for the young people to celebrate by going away together and having fun (insert drinking, clubbing and partying!). Many thousands of young people pour into the Gold Coast (a Queensland beach resort area) and over the years it has gotten to the point that it is quite dangerous.

What do school leavers do and where do they go in other parts of the world?

Usually in my area we would take a road trip somewhere for a week or two for the same reasons. I am less than 3 hours from Montreal so we would go up there (18 yr old drinkin age, red light district, drugs, etc). Mostly just partying then gettin ready for college.

Most of the kids here flock on one of the many islands,mykonos being the famous one(see att.photo).I think the parties&drinking is international,just the venue changes!frantique,just tell your son not to do what you would'nt do and he'll be just fine!

well, here people (ie 18 and above) usually come to Goa (clubs,booze,dope ) but as i am already here i don't really have to travel much the sad thing is i hate clubbing so i do not normally go i actually prefer to do all that stuff alone or in a small group (not that social hehehe ) so usually i roam (on my bike) because its so freeing but just today my ride konced off for no reason
ya anyway after graduation i guess we'll (my friends) go on some road trip to banglore or some place
