Ok thanks for reading!

I got my DAUGHTER A HP PAVILLION NOTEBOOK DV6585EF MODEL

WE LIVE IN FRANCE BUT ARE ENGLISH, SHE WANTED A FRENCH LAPTOP AND GOT IT.

SHE WANTED TO UNPACK IT AND SET IT UP EVEN THOUGH SHE DONT SPEAK THE LINGO.....SHE DID IT

NOT REALISING SHE HAD TO CREATE BACK UP RECOVERY DISCS.SHE SET ABOUT USING IT WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS AT ALL

THEN SHE FOUND i WAS USING IT AT NIGHT TO PLAY POKER WHILE SHE WAS ASLEEP...........

SO SHE CHANGED THE PASSWORD..SHUT DOWN MY USER ACCOUNT .....................

AND NOW SHE CANT REMEMBER THE PASSWORD SHE SWITCHED TO.

NOT HAVING CREATED A SET OF BACK UP RECOVERY DISKS HAS ONLY COMPOUNDED MY ANGER.

WE NOW HAVE A 1000 EURO NOTEPAD GATHERING DUST TOTALLY UNUSABLE.

HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GUESS THE PASSWORD FOR SEVERAL HOURS EVERYDAY AND HAVE GIVEN UP.

ANY HELP GREATLY APPRECIATED.

PS COULD I JUST GO OUT AND BUY ANOTHER VISTA WOULD THAT WORK?

CANT BUY RECOVERY DISCS EITHER COS HP.COM/SUPPORT LINK DONT WORK.

TY AGAIN.

TRICKY.

When she set a password, she also set a ''hint"....If she can't remember from that, then you :

USING IT AT NIGHT TO PLAY POKER WHILE SHE WAS ASLEEP

are out of luck.......

BTW...unlock your 'Caps' and get a legit Version of Vista.

it is a legit version of Vista! preinstalled without backup discs, which must be created from the partition within the hard drive? sorry I am not an expert like you.

why would you say it's not legit?

Im pretty pissed off you would suggest I am a pirate user you being an expert and staff and all that.

can anyone else be helpful instead of sarcastic

many thanks.

My expertise is in "security" such as Malware/Spyware/Viruses...etc.

Why would you ask this?

PS COULD I JUST GO OUT AND BUY ANOTHER VISTA WOULD THAT WORK?

CANT BUY RECOVERY DISCS EITHER COS HP.COM/SUPPORT LINK DONT WORK

You can get as mad at me as you want to, but if it's you daughter's computer and she set a password to keep you off it, then you'll have to take it up with her.
