I'm constantly getting warning messages from windows saying my computer is infected with spyware and clicking on that only directs me to an advertising for spyware-removal. Every other warning message is another one that says that my computer is under Internet attack.

As well, popups would appear in the red "windows security centre system warning" with different file extensions and threat names. One consistent one that has appeared is about the TrojanDownloader.xs. I've goggled that and found this site with you helping multiple infected users.

I tried following the beginning instructions you gave to the other users about downloading ComboFix, disconnect from internet, disable monitoring programs and running ComboFix. It got through all the stages and then began listing out file extensions... then it goes into some lines of "cannot... <something>" and the console box disappears... As well, while the ComboFix was running, it'd kill my explorer, so after the console disappears, I can't do anything except force my system into hard reboot. (As doing ctrl-alt-del would bring up the message "Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator." But the account I'm on is the administrator...) Please help!

Please download ComboFix from Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

• Close any open browsers.
• Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

  • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".

• Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
• When finished, it will produce a report for you.

Is it normal for the console to disappear? my taskbar is gone too... I'm wondering if it's still running, or if I should force a reboot.

What do you mean the console?

Combofix will temporarily remove the desktop icons and you should still see a blue window that says completed steps etc...

Combofix will automatically reboot your computer.

Hmmm ok let's do this.

please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

• Restart your computer
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
• Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
• Choose your usual account.

Then from Safe Mode double click on Combofix to run it again.
Reboot back into normal mode when it is done then please post that log and a new Hijackthis log.

It's the same if I run it in Safe Mode. After deleting files/folders, it will run into something and say something like "cannot recognize as an internal or external....." and the window disappears..

Do this

• Click START then RUN
• Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK
  

This will uninstall COmbofix.

Redownload it from the previous link and run it again.

–Install it and double-click the icon on your desktop to run it.

• It will ask if you want to update the program definitions, click Yes.
• Under Configuration and Preferences, click the Preferences button.
• Click the Scanning Control tab.
• Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked:
• Close browsers before scanning
• Scan for tracking cookies
• Scan for Alternate Data streams
• Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
• Please leave the others unchecked.
• Click the Close button to leave the control center screen.

*Reboot your computer into SafeMode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight SafeMode then hit enter.

Then run Superantispyware.

• Double click on the icon to start Superantispyware.
• On the main screen, under Scan for Harmful Software click Scan your computer.
• On the left check C:\Fixed Drive.
• On the right, under Complete Scan, choose Perform Complete Scan.
• Click Next to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
• After the scan is complete a summary box will appear. Click OK.
• Make sure everything in the white box has a check next to it, then click Next.
• It will quarantine what it found and if it asks if you want to reboot, click Yes.

• A new window will open...click the Check Now button
• Enter your Country
• Enter your State/Province
• Enter your e-mail address and click send
• Select either Home User or Company
• Click the big Scan Now button
• If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
• It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
• When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
• When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the ActiveScan report
