Yes, and it starts installing and then fails with the following messages:
KB893803v2 setup: Access is denied
KB893803v2 installation did not complete: undo changes? Y
Windows Installer was partially updated and may not work properly.
Then it automatically rebooted...

Also, unrelated, but can I change the date and time on my computer back? During some of the steps we went through it changed it slightly.

Okay... I think I finally got windows installer working!! So everything should be updated for microsoft now.

I think all of the threats have been taken care of now as well. I don't know for sure though... What else can I do to check?

If I am clean, what programs should I remove, and what programs should I use to prevent further infections. I have many different programs but not sure which is best. Here are all of the antivirus/adware programs I have:

RegCure, XoftSpySE, Spyware Doctor, Ad-Aware 2007, spybot search and destroy, Hijack This, AVG Anti-Spyware, SuperAnitSpyware, SpywareBlaster, and McAfee.

Some are only 30 day trials that I downloaded while working with you, but I don't remember which ones were what...

We are getting there!... :)

can I change the date and time on my computer back

Yes

Could you post the SAS log and a new Hijackthis please

SuperAntiSpyware log
  • Now to get the log Go to the PREFERENCES button on the right bottom
  • Select the STATISTICS/LOG tab
  • Highlight the scan just completed and click VIEW LOG
  • This will open a notepad text file copy and paste this to your next reply

I will go through the clean up once I am sure :)

Okay! so i'm finally clean? :) :)

Also, what other files that we used can i remove to clean up some space

Thank you for all of your help. Good luck with everything else!!

:) Okey Dokey the following can be removed from startup by using Hijackthis - if the programmes need to run they will start themselves.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UpdateManager] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sonic\Update Manager\sgtray.exe" /r
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LSBWatcher] c:\hp\drivers\hplsbwatcher\lsburnwatcher.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iTunesHelper] C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ISUSPM Startup] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\UPDATE~1\ISUSPM.exe -startup
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ISUSScheduler] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe" -start
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Adobe Photo Downloader] "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Album Starter Edition\3.0\Apps\apdproxy.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HostManager] C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\1150760259\ee\AOLHostManager.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HPHUPD06] c:\Program Files\HP\{AAC4FC36-8F89-4587-8DD3-EBC57C83374D}\hphupd06.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03\bin\jusched.exe"
O4 - .DEFAULT User Startup: AutoTBar.exe (User 'Default user')
O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Reader Speed Launch.lnk = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\reader_sl.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE
O4 - Global Startup: Updates from HP.lnk = C:\Program Files\Updates from HP\309731\Program\Updates from HP.exe

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis.

Programmes to keep - I would suggest the following as a minimum

SuperAntiSpyware,
SpywareBlaster,
McAfee.

Keep safe :)
