I dont think Vista will read my motherboard

I have just bought a new motherboard and plugged it into the computer.

At the moment it dont work as Vista dont seam to load up.

I've been told I need to install drivers for the new motherboard to work

but I cant get into the operating system to install what I need for the computer to work

also things are worse

I cant get into safe mode either

I would rather not wipe my computer as I lose whats on it

Motherboard Name : ASUS

Motherboard Number : P5VD2-VM SE




So can i Have some help/advice please

Hello, and welcome to Geeks To Go.
When Vista was first installed on the computer, It gathered information on your hardware and created a number unique to your machine.
When you changed the motherboard, you changed the number. Vista does not start because the numbers do not match.
You have basically created a new machine by changing the motherboard.
You can reinstall Vista, but you will have to call Microsoft to activate the new installation.
Explain to them that it is the same computer, but you had to replace some hardware that was defective.

I have wiped the system and its all ok now
