CAN'T BRING MY DESKTOPUP

after restarting my computer, which is running vista. all of sudden, never happened before:
welcome comes up, then my logo, (normally boots up and brings desktop up immediately), appears.
click on logo, cycles thru to welcome then back to my logo. Same thing over and over.
can't bring desktop up. HELP

Hello,
It may be that Windows Explorer has becoume corrupt.
Lets try this first.
  • Restart your computer and press F8 repeatedly.
  • When the boot options menu comes up, select Safe mode.
  • At the log on screen select Administrator.
  • When prompted to, select to run in Safe Mode.
  • Open Control Panel.
  • Open Back up and restore center.
  • In the upper left hand corner, select Repair Windows with system restore.
  • Select a restore point where the system worked fine.
  • Follow the on screen instructions to restore your system.
