Windows Media Player 11 Trouble

Media player won't play any media (video) other than dvd's, no streaming, no netflix, I have a UFC account to where I can dl fightd but they are in WMP format and they wont play. I get an error message and then the browser closes? Any suggestions would help. Thanks
