[Triggerfish]

Well....I think I screwed up big time. I downloaded a torrent and now all of my desktop icons and start menu icons open the DVD QuickPlay program. For some reason, if I click on "start" and go to the Internet Explorer at the top of the menu I AM able to access the internet. This is a Compaq laptop running Windows Vista. I have a feeling I downloaded some malware or virus or something. Unfortunately, I'm not as computer saavy as I'd like to be and I'm stuck on what to do. I can't open Norton, as it is affected, as well as System Restore. Has anyone seen this before?? I really need some help here! Thanks so much for your time....

Please go to the Malware Forum and follow the instructions you'll find there.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- post a hijackthis log in THAT forum. Do Not reply to or "bump" your own topic...if it shows a reply, it may be overlooked as one that is being worked on.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
