Click here to download Silent Runners.
  • Save (do not choose ‘open’) it to the desktop.
  • Run SilentRunners by double clicking the "SilentRunners" icon on your desktop.
  • You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done, let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
  • Once you receive the prompt All Done!, open the text file on the desktop, copy that entire log, and paste it here.
*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

Download GMER from: http://gmer.net/index.php

Save it somewhere on your hard drive and unzip it to desktop.

Double click the gmer.exe to run it and select the rootkit tab and press scan. When the scan is done, click Copy. This will copy the report to the clipboard. Paste it into Notepad and save it and also paste the log report back here please.

O_O OHMYGOSH.
I just saw, that my unicode program was set to Korean as default. =__________________=; no wonder.
DDDD:

THANK YOU SO MUCH (how do I address you? XD) cookiegal! XDD
that helped alot. really ^^;
oh, and can you recommend any anti-virus/malware freeware programs that I can possible use that WON'T slow down the overall running system of my com? ahhaah
I dunno, cuz I heard Norton takes up a lot of RAM which is why I removed it.. (don't even know why I have it in the first place, hmph)

Now I'm only using AVG and the Nod32 program thing that the computer guy put in my com. XD

p.s. is it too much to ask if I should ignore the problem of my self-ejecting DVD-player? o_o

You shouldn't be running two anti-virus programs as they will conflict and cause problems. Between Norton and Nod32 I would definitely choose Nod32.

Can you please explain in detail the problem with the DVD player? Does it open randomly? How often does this happen? What are you doing on the computer when it happens?

Thanks! ^^

anyway, about the player, yes, it opens randomly and it occurs quite frequently.
too frequently to count.
as of now, as I am typing this reply, the DVD player has opened and closed itself several times.

it happens at random moments. no matter what I am doing on the computer. even when the computer is idle, with practically NO programs running, it could happen.
the amazing thing, is that it ejects even the moment I switch the computer on!
like, I press the power button and as the CPU boots, the dvd-drive pops out. =_=;;

even if I were to close it, it would just re-eject itself out again after a while after detecting that no cd is present etc.
also, another weird thing is, you know in My Computer? usually, when you try clicking the DVD-RAM drive/CD-RW drive without any cd/dvd in the driver, a pop-up would show saying that there is no CD in the drive? well, this doesn't happen with my DVD-RAM drive (E:/) [i have another CD-RW drive (F:/) but that one works perfectly fine] if I click on the DVD-RAM icon, I would access a blank window (and nope, no hidden folders either)

Oh, I right clicked the blank window and went to properties (if it helps) and what I get is:
Type : CD Drive
File system : Unknown
Used & Free space(s) + Capacity : 0 bytes [but the image shown is all blue]

I wonder if it's because I may have accidentally set some settings for it to auto eject? or.. I dunno. ><
anything else you might need to know?

Go to Start - Run - type in devmgmt.msc and click OK.

Do you see any yellow exclamation marks beside DVD/CD-ROM drives or any other devices there?

Follow these steps to uninstall Combofix and all of its files and components.
  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.

Now you should turn system restore off to flush out all previous system restore points, then turn it back on and create a new restore point:

To turn off system restore, on the Desktop, right click on My Computer and click on Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn System Restore back on and create a restore point.

To create a new restore point, click on StartAll ProgramsAccessoriesSystem Tools and then select System Restore.

In the System Restore wizard, select Create a restore point and click the Next button.

Type a name for your new restore point then click on Create.

I also recommend downloading SPYWAREBLASTER & SPYWAREGUARD for added protection.

Check this out for info on how to tighten your security settings and some good free tools to help prevent this from happening again.
