kahdah,

I performed the registry backup and fixthis.reg as instructed. I reran Hijackthis and fixed a few times and as you can see item :
"O18 - Filter hijack: text/html - {6068e02b-aae2-42a4-9283-55b840ef3b58} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\msiebbar.dll" still shows up on log.

Download Registry Search to your desktop.
  • Right click on the compressed RegSearch folder, and choose "Extract All". In the box that pops open, click "Next", then "Next" again, and then "Finish". You now have another RegSearch folder on your desktop.
  • Open the new folder, and double click on regsearch.exe
  • Paste in this -> {6068e02b-aae2-42a4-9283-55b840ef3b58} inside of the white box.
  • Click OK and Registry Search will scan your registry for the file(s), and a Notepad box will open with a report.
  • Please reply here with the entire contents of the Notepad file from RegSearch.

PLease delete your first fixthis reg and then do the following:

Please open up Notepad and copy all of the items in the code box below.
Change the "Save As Type" to "All Files". Save it as fixthis.reg on your Desktop.

Yep all is good that is how it is suposed to look. :)

You can delete the reg search and the reg fix files I had you use.

After that yourlog is clean

Many thanks for your help and persistance in helping in getting rid of "WIN32/Adware.Virtumonde and WIN32/PrivacyRemover.M64" on this computer.

Followed your instructions as per your post #6, in turning off system restore to clear previous restore points and then turning on, to create a new restore point.

I am curious as to whether I should update for XP Pro service pack 3. Heard that there were alot of problems with it.

Yes go ahead as it provides quite a few security patches and will prevent things like this from happening as much.
