It looks like this blue screen is caused by a USB device, controller, or port failing. I'll take a look at the dumps when I get home from work and find out why.

You mentioned this started a couple of days ago. What did you do a couple of days ago? Were there any updates that needed to be installed, or any software you added or updated yourself? Plugged in a new USB device?

I have not installed any new USB devices. The only one that i have constantly connected to it is a wireless mouse (which i've had since i bought the computer, so i doubt that's causing the troubles). As for updates, i don't recall anything major, just some Firefox updates.

Update: It seems that the computer is completely fine, except for when I open MSN messenger. I can run any programs, even memory consuming PC games but nothing happens until I open MSN messenger. Once I do, within 5 minutes the computer automatically restarts. Anyone have any idea what this could be?

Thanks in advance.

I would look for a driver issue with your web cam.
Try rolling back the driver as an updated driver may be conflicting with your MSN messenger.
Do you need instructions for rolling back the driver?

Hi there
Please upload your minidump folder here and i will help you to debug and let you know the reason for BSOD.

Looking for minidump file

Go to My Computer and locate C:\Windows\Minidump or C:\Minidump. Once you have the minidump folder, please zipped the whole folder and upload it here (using add attachement function) or other web hosting page mentioned below. Please provide the link to download your file.

No minidump file available!!!How??
Do the following if you did not find your minidump file

(Window XP)
  • Right click at My Computer
  • Go to Properties
  • Look at Advanced tab then go for Startup and Recovery
  • Look at Settings and untick Automatic Restart
  • Make sure that write debugging information is Small Memory Dump (64kb)

(Window Vista)
  • Right click at My Computer
  • Go to Properties
  • Look at Advanced System Properties tab then go for Startup and Recovery
  • Look at Settings and untick Automatic Restart
  • Make sure that write debugging information is Small Memory Dump (64kb)

You have a missing driver on stream.sys. which is WDM CODEC Class Device Driver 2.0.
Reinstalling the driver might solve your problem.

It says I have to pay to download the file. Is there any other way I can fix this without having to pay for something?

Who makes the webcam?
Is it factory installed?
Go to the web site of the manufacture (the camera, or the computer if it is built in) and download the driver from there for free.

Well when I look directly at the computer, next to the camera lens it says "HP webcam" (yes, it is built-in), however in the Device Manager it says that the manufacturer is Sonix and it's called "Simplo Webcam." I went to both HP and Sonix websites and neither had any results for it. What I've done in the mean time is just disable the webcam for now and so far I haven't had any troubles with MSN anymore, but Winamp keeps crashing every now and then.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

How about uninstalling winamp, and then reinstalling it.
Or just uninstall and use Windows media player.
