-When I restart the computer I get an error message 'The application module c:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\rctxt.dll cannot be found or has been modified or destroyed. The AVGNT.EXE cannot be started. Please check your installation!'

-Also on restart I get the message block 'TrayApp' pops up and the dialog 'The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the 'TrayApp' disk and click OK. Use source: 1 or Browse...'. When I click OK, it says The path '1' cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package. 'TrayApp.msi' in a folder from which you can install the product TrayApp'. Task Manager shows the process 'TrayApp' to be linked to my HP printer. The only way to clear the message is to 'End Task' via the Task Manager.

-When I try to remove and reinstall 'Avira', the error message block 'Setup' pops up and in the dialog box it says 'Cannot load master resource file'

-When I try to remove 'Button Manager v1.874', the error message block 'Setup.exe' pops up and in the dialog box it says 'Setup.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience' and below in the gray portion of the dialog box it says 'If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost'.

-Also I just tried to access my online banking and recieved a popup 'iexplore.exe- Application Error' and in the dialog box it says 'The instruction "Ox7c901010" referenced memory at "0x0000001c". The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate the proram.

For the programs that will not uninstall:
Have you tried re-installing over your current install or doing a repair install? You don't want to do this with the Button Manager program as it was Malware. I would advise using the tool below for that.

The other option is to try using this freeware application:
http://www.revouninstaller.com/

Take a look at this link for the TrayApp issue:
http://www.help2go.c...rayApp.msi.html

-Also I just tried to access my online banking and recieved a popup 'iexplore.exe- Application Error' and in the dialog box it says 'The instruction "Ox7c901010" referenced memory at "0x0000001c". The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate the proram.

This one could be tricky and not easy to solve. Are you getting this error repeatedly? From the same site?

IndiGenus,

Excellent choice of the Revo Uninstaller! Worked like a champ....

Still working on the TrayApp issue...I removed then reinstalled from the web driver download...still getting reboot message looking for the file...I will try this again or look for the disc that came with the printer.

The online banking thing is still a problem...although now when I type in the address and try to go to the sites main page, all of my windows close down...not sure what to do there yet...I may contact my bank for instructions.

Thanks again and I will reply back when I get more results...

-Poorboy.

Just going to wrap things up here.

Here are some other programs you may want to consider.

Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly. Here are some free and evalutation versions that provide
better security than the Windows Firewall. Comodo
Outpost Firewall
For a tutorial on Firewalls and a listing of some other available ones see the link below:
Understanding and Using Firewalls

Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly or set your computer to receive automatic updates. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.

Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.
A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Using SpywareBlaster to protect your computer from Spyware and Malware

Install SpywareGuard - SpywareGuard provides a real-time protection solution against spyware that is a great addition to SpywareBlaster's protection method.
A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Using SpywareGuard to protect your computer from Spyware and Malware

Use Zoned Out -
Zoned Out will block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email. Instructions for set up and use can be found at the website.

Update all of your Anti-Malware programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed and the ones you are currently running regularly. Without regular updates you Will Not be protected when new malicious programs are released.

I'll leave the thread open a few days in case you have questions or issues.

Regards,
Dave

Dave,

Thank you again for all of the help and suggestions...I will try each from your last reply.

Please note, I was able to solve the TrayApp issue by locationg the disc that came with my printer and loading it during a boot-up. I saw many web forums that had postings relating to this issue and felt lucky that mine was solved.

I have spent much time trying to resolve the issue with my bank website, but believe it to be a setting change that will take more time with my online banking folks to correct...Fortunately I have another pc at home to access with and have no issues there.

Thanks again for all of your efforts and for going beyond my original problem with your kind and much appreciated help.

Regards,

John.
