Whats the actual difference between usb 2 and high speed usb 2 ? ? ?

My new asus motherboard supports high speed usb2 and obviously i would like to take advantage of that.

Do existing usb2 devices and peripherals work with the newer high speed protocol ? ?

Many thanks, , kev

As far as I know, USB 2.0 is a single technology. In other words, USB 2.0 and High Speed USB 2.0 are two different names for the same thing. What I believe the term actually refers to is the device connecting to the computer. For example, a High Speed USB 2.0 flash drive takes advantage of the speeds that the USB 2.0 port offers.
