Not sure if anyone here could help me but I haven't had success with the built in cam on my HP computer since I got the computer (~3 weeks ago)

It is working on skype and somewhat working on aim, but it will not connect on yahoo, and will not load the chat windows on stickam. I have searched the internet a lot, thinking it was my yahoo messenger specifically or a problem with stickam.com itself, but it seems to be something with vista or my windows firewall or something. Its just irritating that its the webcam that is built into the computer but it still isn't cooperating!

I know its not my webcam itself though, because it opens on skype just fine, and with the yahoo problem it not only with not allow my webcam to connect, it wont let other people's webcams connect I try to view. It keeps saying "connecting" on yahoo and then 'reconnecting' but never connects.. then it says "error: a network error occured while connecting to the server". So it's gotta be the firewall or something right? I have a trial version of symantec running right now also.
Also I am online through a wireless network on my college campus.. all of this (stickam, yahoo messenger cam, etc) works and has worked fine on my other laptop, so its gotta be something with vista or symantec or something on this computer.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Also, is there anyway that you can turn off the notifications on vista that prompt you to do every little thing?

the computer is:

HP Pavillion dv5-1159se entertainment pc
with:
windows vista service pack 1

Hello,
Does the school network have limitations set on the proxy?
Get rid of Norton and download/instal Avira as your antivirus.
Avira is free, has a much smaller fotprint than Norton, and has a high detection rate.
The resident shield that comes with Avira is very good as well.
Since you connect through a router the Windows firewall will be enough (Yes, some people will disagree with me)
The only issue with Avira is that when it updates you will get a nag screen, click on the red X and forget about it until the next day.
I do believe that the norton security center is causing the issue with your webcam.
