Hi kaylaw,

I am starting to get the impression that your system is missing some essential parts. They could have been defective before but more likely they were removed with the malware which had either replaced it or attached itself to it.

We will try to start it: You may require the original Windows disk.

To repair Internet Explorer in Windows XP, complete the following procedure while you are logged on as an administrator:

Use the System File Checker tool to scan all of the protected files on your computer:

Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type sfc /scannow, and then click OK.

Keep me posted,

Hi kaylaw,

You have to wait until you have the original disk. Nothing much more to do.

Hi kaylaw,

No you don't lose everything. You run the program and it should fix the broken/missing files.

Well if you can enter through safe mode, try the command that I gave you previously when you get your disk.

If you can get in now, try and backup your most important data (which should really have been backed up regularly) in case the worst happens and you must reinstall.
