Thanks for the tip on admin,ill try that have reloaded xp still can only open in safe mode,,any ideas

Big Red X ??????? whenever i try to log in from the Welcome screen,says loading personal settings them a little box with a Big red X pops up and nothing happens

Did what you said was able to delete Wintools file from safe mode,but still unable to log in.also get virtual memory low sign while in safe mode,absolutely going crazy here.....any advice?

Seems as if we're dealing with more than spyware here.

See if this allows you to logon:
Try restarting the computer using "last known good configuration":
1. Start Windows, or if it is running, shut Windows down, and then turn off the computer.
2. Restart the computer. The computer begins processing a set of instructions known as the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS). What is displayed depends on the BIOS manufacturer. Some computers display a progress bar that refers to the word BIOS, while others may not display any indication that this process is happening.
3. As soon as the BIOS has finished loading, begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard. Continue to do so until the Windows Advanced Options menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
4. Using the arrow keys on the keyboard, scroll to and select the Last Known Good Configuration menu item, and then press Enter.

Last Known Good Configuration = Big red X,tried just about everything can access files in safe mode though.went thru steps in the above message,

Try downloading Ad-aware from another system, and run it on yours in safe mode.

Download the latest version of Ad-Aware from here (if you already have Ad-Aware installed, make sure that it is the latest version and always go online and update it before you run it).

After installing AAW, and before running the program, you must FIRST update the reference file following these instuctions. (and you must always do this before you run the program at any later date).

Now do the following:

Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Scanning Engine:
check: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."

Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Cleaning Engine:
Check: "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."

Press "Scan Now"

- Check option "Use Custom scanning options"
- Check option "Activate In-Depth Scan"
- Press "Select drives\folders to scan"
- Select the active partition which is usually C:

Now press "Next" to let Ad-aware scan your drives. It will find a number of spyware files and registry keys. Right-click in that pane and choose "select all"

Now press "Next" again. It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK.

Finally, close Ad-Aware, and reboot.

THANK GOD!!!!! finally in, now to figure out what caused it,and try to repair...the adaware thing did thetrick from safe mode

There is a yet unknown spyware infection going around that seems to be responsible for this problem. Luckily. Ad-aware is usually able to repair it.

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use).

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder if everything is working okay.

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats.
