Attempting to run Windows Update via IE 7 and I receive the following error message:
Windows could not search for new updates
Error(s) found:
Code 80080005 Windows Update encountered an unknown error.

Runnding Windows Vista SP 1.
Last security updates were run on November 15, 2008. Half of the updates were successful and half filed. All updates failed in December. received some suggestions from a Microsoft Technician and now I receive the above mentioned error. I have re-registerd the Windows Update DLLs and attempted a re-install of the Windows Update Service (WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86).

After running the WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86 I received the following error once:
Windows Update Agent Installer Fatal Error
Windows Update Agent Installer encountered unrecoverable error.

I have alos tried to do a system restore to a date in October and was unsuccessful with that solution as well.
