Hi everyone,
I am fairly new to computers and an old fart to boot. Together that spells computer confusion.
I have an ATT account that uses Yahoo for a homepage. A family friend says to "screw that" and use Google for your homepage. You can customize it and store photos blah, blah, blah and it will be there forever. I did open up a Google homepage and it's pretty cool.
My brother says "screw all that stuff and just use Firefox to browse the net." I downloaded Firefox 2. something or other (my bro said not to trust the 3.0 just yet). When I open Firefox it opens up a Yahoo page. So if I search from it, is it searching from Firefox or Yahoo?

So I am wondering, how do you real computers guys go about it?

Thanks for your help and please excuse my ignorance.

Just plain old Google - I really can't stand either the Google Toolbar or iGoogle. I prefer my homepage to be nice and neat.

However, I use Firefox and have it set to restore my tabs from my previous session, so I usually have several sites open at once.

Hi edmo60, and welcome to Geeks to Go.

Using a Yahoo homepage means your searches are being done with the Yahoo search engine. Firefox is just the browser and your home page can be set to any web page you find that you like. I spend most of my time here at Geeks to Go so my home page is set to the forums page. My wife likes to keep up with the latest news so she uses CNN.com. So basically any web page you like can be your homepage.

Also I see nothing wrong with the latest version of Firefox :)

Since I'm a big fan of tabbed browsing, I have multiple homepages open at once, with Geeks to Go as my primary one.

At home, I use Roadrunner on FF as my home page. It's search feature is enhanced by Google.

At work, I use Yahoo on IE.
