This is my first post.

Anyway, a few days ago, a Windows error pop up message started appearing when I start my pc or when I start an application. The error message is:

"The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\wotunivo.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette."

You can click OK for each of these (dozens) pop-ups and eventually use the computer. My IT manager at work said she thought I had the Trojan Vundo and that it was very bad. So bad that she would not consider hooking my PC up to her network! But she said to use Lavasoft's Ad-Aware. I ran this and it said it found 1 issue so I had it clean it and reboot.

After reboot the messages still appeared.

I did a little research myself and downloaded Prevx3.0. This app did not find any problem.

I downloaded and ran Malwarebytes' Anti-MalWare. It ran for over an hour and found 3 issues. When I told it to clean the issues, it only cleaned two. The log only shows two and it removed any evidence there was ever a third. Upon reboot, I still have the problem.

I downloaded HijackThis and when I clicked "AnalyzeThis" it sent me to Trend Micros website saying that I need to post on a forum. What good is the Analyze This button if I have to go to a forum anyway?

I came to this forum. Based on its advice, I ran Vundofix. It did not find any issues. Perhaps this is not Vundo?

PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP????

OK, Mr. fenzodahl I finished your suggested steps. Wow-that took a long time and do I feel nervous about downloading all these programs. Anyhow, per your instructions, I will post each log in a separate reply.

1. Downloaded comedian.exe. It ran without any problems.
2. I had Malwarebytes already loaded. I did update it and it did download the latest update. I ran it and it did NOT find any issues. This log is included in this post.
3. Downloaded and ran RSIT. Logs will be included in next 2 posts.
4. Ran Gamers. This took VERY long (about 4 hours). Log will be attached.

BTW the wotunivo.dll messages still pop up. Any additional help you provide would be appreciated. Thanks.

The PC seems to work fine now.

Let me say a great big thank you. I certainly could not have done this myself.

Now: what should I do to prevent this in the future? Doing all this testing I have some apps that seem to still be loaded (Prevx & Ad-Aware show icons in the taskbar. Malwarebytes & HiJackThis are still installed). Should I leave these programs as is? Should I install somethis else. I have Norton Internet Security. Should I switch to McAfee or Avast, AVG, Kapersky or something else?

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

It's been a few days and the .dll pop-up has not returned. I am still a bit leery of using this pc for sensitive transactions but overall it seems to be back to normal.

I really want to thank fenzodahl512 for your help and assistance in this issue. I couldn't have done it without you. THANKS!!!
