I have a Sony Vaio w/ Windows Vista. Had it for a year. No problems.
My CPU usage bar usually hovers at around 5% or so. However, I was copying a folder (just a folder with text and images inside) and putting it on a desktop when an error message appeared. I accidentally clicked off of it so I never saw what it said (It might've said something like "There's already this name folder in this destination, do you wish to merge it" or something) but I stupid and ignored it and it just happened so fast I didn't really remember what it said or know what I did to get rid of the message.
But ever since that time, my CPU bar has been hovering at 50% when I'm not doing anything. And anytime I launch programs it shoots up to 100% make everything REALLY slow.
I deleted the folder I talked about-- so it's gone. But the problem persists.
I ran ad-aware and AVG scan-- no problems found.
I went into Safe Mode-- to look for anything-- I didn't see anything out of place.
Just to test things, I created a new USER and logged in. When I'm logged in as the new User, everything is cool. CPU bar is down at about 5% like it normally is.
I logged back into the old User-- problem persists.
I also tried logging into the new User account while still logged into the old User account-- when I did that, the CPU problem carried over to the new User. When I logged off the old User and back into the new User-- there was no problem.
If anybody has had this problem or knows how to solve it, any help would be greatly appreciated.
