oh folks here is what i have a del inspiron 1501 with window vista
every thing was fine till friday last week i updated my window and micor soft update and thats when it happen
what it is doing is nothing when you turn it on thw microsoft corporation little green bar will come on and do its little scan thing then i get a black screen saying window error recovery..windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. If Windows files have been damaged or configured incorrectly, Startup Repair can help diagnose and fix the problem. If power was interrupted during startup, choose start Windows Normally. (Use the arrow keys to highlight your choice.)

Launch Startup Repair (recommended)
Start Windows Normally

i have done the launch startup repair and it will do it thing and then back to this page again

and it also does the same thing when you do the start windows norally
and i have tryed to put my son window vista cd in to try and reboot it that way with no luck
it just seems like every time i do any kind of update it screws all 4 of my pc up
i have one that is in the corner collecting dust that i can not fix and i guess my little laptop will go in the corner next unless you folks can help me that is

ok well a update
after i clicked the launch repair
and it went thru it little scan
a window pops up saying
start up repair cannot repair this computer automatically
send more info can help microsoft creat solutions
when i click send info about problem
it scan a few seconds and this window pops up
if you have recently attached a device to this computer ,such as a camera or portable music player ,remove it and restart your computer ,if you continue to see this message contact your system administrator or computer manufacture for assistane
click finish to exit and shut down your computer
i have launched repair over 20 time and it does this over and over again
so i dont know i think its time to blow the dust off my old sks and use the laptop as a target and body want to come and join me lol

What are the details from the Startup Repair report?

I would suggest the following:
