Yes, if this is done in safe mode you should be able to reboot back into normal mode - If it is a driver or service that is causing the crashes. If you still get them on a clean boot I fear we are looking at hardware

I'll try it one more time then.

Are these two steps necessary? I don't seem to have these two boxes.

2. Click to clear the Process SYSTEM.INI File check box.
3. Click to clear the Process WIN.INI File check box.

Also, when I do "disable all" it returns to "Diagnostic Setup" and when I check "Load System Services," the services that were disabled become checked again.

What should I do about this?

"Also, when I do "disable all" it returns to "Diagnostic Setup" and when I check [Selective Startup and then] "Load System Services," the services that were disabled become checked [enabled] again."

Hi I have had a look at the MS KB and I find that I was giving you the XP version which is why it made no sense :)

Here are the instructions for Vista http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796

Unfortunately, it still didn't start up. But that makes sense doesn't it? Since none of the "services" or programs were able to even get up before it auto-crashed. Because the fact is that it crashes before it even gets to the log-in screen in normal mode.

I suppose it's a hardware issue now?
