Hello

It sounds good :)
Maybe we can try to improve that.

Step 1

Try Startuplite, this is a tool to help you stop some programs not needed when you start your computer from loading.

Then I suggest you to run a defrag with Auslogics Disk Defrag or Jkdefrag

Let me know the result :)

Step 2

Can you please download VEW and save it to your Desktop: http://images.malwar...om/vino/VEW.exe

Double-click VEW.exe then under 'Select log to query', select :
System

Under 'Select type to list', select :
Error

Then use the 'Date of events' or 'Number of events' as follows:
  • Click the radio button for 'Date of events'
  • In the From: 24 08 2009
  • In the To: 25 08 2009
  • Then click the Run button.
  • Notepad will open with the output log.
In Notepad, click Edit > Select all then Edit > Copy
Reply to this post, click in the reply window and press Ctrl+V on your keyboard to paste the log.

Edit: Nevermind, it worked when I ran it as an administrator. The log was too long for the post though, so I saved it as a wordpad file and attached it.

Attached File  VEWlog.txt   437.14KB   82 downloads

Hello Menos

I'm still annoyed by this bad block, but I must admit that this is beyond my knowledge. I suggest you to open a new topic in "Hardware, Components and Peripherals" here for this "bad block".
You can eventually give a link to this topic if it's needed.

OK! Well done, your logs look clean ! :)

The first thing we need to do is to remove all the tools that you have used.

Double-click OTL.exe to run it.
Click the Clean up button
Click Yes to the reboot.

Now delete any logs that you have left over on your desktop.

OK, lets carry out a few preventative steps to make sure you reduce the risk of further infections.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now lets Reset and Re-enable your System Restore : (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected, but that's good news).
To turn off Windows Vista System Restore:
  • Click Start.
  • Right-click the Computer icon, and then click Properties.
  • Click on System Protection under the Tasks column on the left side
  • Click on Continue on the "User Account Control" window that pops up
  • Under the System Protection tab, find "Available Disks"
  • Uncheck the box for any drive you wish to disable system restore on
  • When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click "Turn System Restore Off" on the popup window to do this.
  • Click OK
When you have finished, restart the computer and follow the instructions in the next section to turn on System Restore.
To turn on Windows Vista System Restore:
  • Click Start.
  • Right-click the Computer icon, and then click Properties.
  • Click on System Protection under the Tasks column on the left side
  • Click on Continue on the "User Account Control" window that pops up
  • Under the System Protection tab, find Available Disks
  • Place a checkmark in the box for any drive you wish to enable System Restore on
  • Click OK
You can look to this, if you want : http://www.bleepingc...utorial143.html
System Restore will now be active again.
Another essential is to keep your computer updated with the latest operating system patches and security fixes. Windows Updates are constantly being revised to combat the newest hacks and threats, Microsoft releases security updates that help your computer from becoming vunerable. It is best if you have these set to download automatically.
Automatic Updates for Windows
  • Click Start.
  • Select Settings and then Control Panel.
  • Select Automatic Updates.
  • Click Automatic (recommended)
  • Choose a day and a time when you know the computer will be on and connected to the internet.
  • Click Apply then OK.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

In addition to Windows updates, you also need to ensure that your version of Java is the latest.Click here to download the latest version (Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 16). Once downloaded, install it and then Reboot your computer.

It is most important that you also uninstall older versions of Java.
  • Click Start, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.
  • Delete all Java updates except Java ™ 6 Update 16

Keep your programs updated! Software developers update their programs to patch possible security risks. Do a scan once in a while for outdated programs using Secunia's Software Inspector.

If you prefer you can download and install Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI) which will help your computer stay updated.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OK, now lets download some preventative programs that will help to keep the nasties away! Lets look at Firewalls. These help to prevent unauthorised access both to and from the internet or your local network. A firewall is considered a first line of defense in protecting private information. Below are two free firewalls to choose from, if you do not already have one. Note: You only need one firewall one your system.
Personal Firewalls~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is a good idea to clear out all your temp files every now and again. This will help your computer from bogging down and slowing. It also can assist in getting rid of files that may contain malicious code that could re-infect your computer.
Temp File Cleaner
  • TFC A very powerful cleaning program. Note: You may have this already as part of the fixes you have run
.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask them.
All the best, and stay safe!
