Laptop or Desktop?
And have you tried updating the drivers?

If its Desktop with a PCI card in it check to see if the cards connected.
If Laptop try updating the drivers for it if not.

xD
Mayhaps a wire became lose?

xD?

A laptop...If I go to device manager it shoild be labled wireless correct under network adapters. I have Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network), Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocal TDI), Microsoft 6to4 adapter 2 with a exlamation point, and NVIDIA nforce Networking controller. I beleive my card is Broadcom. Went to hp site downloaded driver and installed but nothing happened.

It normally would be called Broadcom if thats the name of your wireless card.
If its just listed as "Wireless Card."

Try uninstalling it and re-installing it via start up.
In device manager uninstall it and then restart your comp it should automatically detect it and start installing it.

Is the card internal or external?

Does it say anything for your wireless card?
And is the card internal or a plug and play card?

Does it plug into your computer,?
Or is it built right in?

If its not showing up in the device manager, and its not detecting anything check to see if the wire's are lose they normally connect inside the laptop and go to the top of the screen.

Check the connectors inside the laptop there are normally 2 gold colored caps on the wireless card.

Once that is done turn back on and see if it works.
If it doesn't it sounds like you have a faulty Wireless card.
or a Wireless card that crapped out.

Tends to happen a lot with some laptops.
also make sure the wireless card is attached properly to the motherboard also.

Bummer to hear man.
You can order new cards online to replace it by searching your laptop model or if you have a PCI slot on your comp you can just buy a linksys model.
Personally I recommend the Linksys one they have a longer lifespan and you can normally get a warrinty with them.

before we say its the card first.
I recommend googling the problem of your wifi card, and computer type.
Just to make sure you don't go throwing in the towel to early.
