password and search windows fill up with dots

For sometime now when i boot up windows the password window will continuosly fill with dots ................................... , this is very irritating because 90% of the time when I try to delete them the fill up again! The only way i can enter my password is to click enter and recieve an incorrect password message, then enter my password. Also search windows will fill up with dots ................................. when I try to search for something. Have tried win defender, mcafee, system mechanic, but prob still continues. help
