My pc is very slow to load pages

Hi everyone, my name is Mike, and i am having real problems with my pages loading slow. I recently updated my AVG free edition, and my Mozilla Firefox. Could this be a cause of it, or is there some malware at work here. I have scanned with AVG, Spybot, Ad-Aware, and A-Squared. This seems to have had no effect.
I then followed your steps 1 through to 5, as advised, but also no improvement.
As a self confessed PC novice, i admit to my total befuddlement....!
Is there someone that could offer me help please?Regards, Mike.
