Thanks for the website navigation instructions (duh, I feel stupid). Hopefully I'll be able to follow the instructions in your post from my computer this evening and maybe I'll get lucky and catch you online this weekend.

Have a wonderful day!

Okay.... I tried accessing the internet and your site thru Internet Explorer since I can't get to your post when access thru Foxfire now. I was able to access but it's extremely slow (but I normally get "this Pag Can Not Be Displayed". I got to your post and following your instructions for SystemLook. This is what I got.

SystemLook v1.0 by jpshortstuff (29.08.09)

Searching for "mbr_report.txt"
No files found.

Searching for "mbr.exe"
C:\mbr.exe --a--- 77312 bytes [02:15 07/01/2010] [02:15 07/01/2010] C5EC72A20B4C98DB5314E6C46765B148

-=End Of File=

So I then tried your instructions again while accessing thru IE and did the MBR steps again. Nothing still doesn't come up when I save MBR.exe to C: drive but when I clicked run this MBR - notepad opened. Maybe I'm not typing it correct in the cmd back window. I also tried copying each line and hitting enter after each line.

I just can't get this MBR.exe to work.

Hope you're having a good weekend.

Hi Lonette

Please download the latest version of OTL for this

Posted Image OTL
OTL is currently our primary tool for searching key areas of the registry and other system locations for the telltale signs of malware. It generates a comprehensive log, and offers an initial diagnosis.

Important note: HijackThis has been replaced by OTL in this guide. Since being acquired by TrendMicro, HijackThis has not been regularly updated. Many infections are now able to hide partly, or completely from a HijackThis scan. OTL is authored by one of our staff members (OldTimer). It includes all the scan locations of HijackThis and more. It's not only a more comprehensive scan tool, but also offers more powerful removal features.

  • Download OTL to your Desktop
  • Double click on the OTL icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in:

    netsvcs
    msconfig
    safebootminimal
    safebootnetwork
    activex
    drivers32
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    /md5start
    eventlog.dll
    scecli.dll
    netlogon.dll
    cngaudit.dll
    sceclt.dll
    ntelogon.dll
    logevent.dll
    iaStor.sys
    nvstor.sys
    atapi.sys
    IdeChnDr.sys
    viasraid.sys
    AGP440.sys
    vaxscsi.sys
    nvatabus.sys
    viamraid.sys
    nvata.sys
    nvgts.sys
    iastorv.sys
    ViPrt.sys
    eNetHook.dll
    ahcix86.sys
    KR10N.sys
    nvstor32.sys
    ahcix86s.sys
    nvrd32.sys
    CLASSPNP.SYS
    disk.sys
    ACPI.sys
    ntoskrnl.exe
    /md5stop
    c:\windows\system32\*.dll /lockedfiles
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\*.sys /lockedfiles
    %systemroot%\*. /mp /s
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto Update\Results\Install|LastSuccessTime /rs
    CREATERESTOREPOINT

  • Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and paste them into your reply.

Sure thing. Is this version different than the one on the Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide, Azarl? I've already downloaded that one.

Hope the weather's better.

Have a nice day.... (I'll do this this evening when I get home) =)

Hi Lonette

Glad to hear it's running better. Don't worry about the extras.log

Next Step...
Clear Cache/Temp Files
Download TFC by OldTimer to your desktop
  • Please double-click TFC.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
  • It will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin.
  • Click the Start button to begin the process. Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two. Let it run uninterrupted to completion.
  • Once it's finished it should reboot your machine. If it does not, please manually reboot the machine yourself to ensure a complete clean.
Then...
Kaspersky WebScanner
Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Kaspersky online scanner uses JAVA technology to perform the scan. If you do not have the latest JAVA version, follow the instructions below under Upgrading Java, to download and install the latest vision.

Upgrading Java
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 16.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Select your Platform and check the box that says: "I agree to the Java SE Runtime Environment 6 License Agreement.".
  • Click on Continue.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation (jre-6u7-windows-i586-p.exe) and save it to your desktop. Do NOT use the Sun Download Manager..
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on the download to install the newest version.(Vista users, right click on the jre-6u7-windows-i586-p.exe and select "Run as an Administrator.")
Running Kaspersky WebScanner
  • Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  • It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  • When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  • Make sure the following is checked.
    • Spyware, Adware, Diallers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives
      Mail databases
  • Click on My Computer under Scan.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  • You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
  • Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  • Please post this log in your next reply.

OMG..... I just did the Kaspesk scan. It took 5.5 hrs. The scan detected 4 virus'. When I clicked on reports and save- my computer froze up and I wasn't able to save it. I'm so upset. It's 11:38 now and I have to go to bed. I have no idea how to retrieve it Azarl. It said to view the report disable pop up blocker I don't know if maybe that's what locked it up or what.
