Ok,
this problem has only come up like a month ago
what happens is when i'm using a program / game (ie. L4D 2, MSN, etc) that requires internet
i disconnect from it
my internet light and wireless light (ASUS M5V1 Laptop, that's my PC) on the modem, doesn't go off
and i am still connected
but it disconnects from those programs
ANY program requiring an internet connection
never happened before
after like 1-2 mins i reconnect in game or on MSN, w/e
but this happens every 10-30 mins
this only begun when i used an internet disconnecter (tapper)
that stop the DHCP Client service
any help?
thx

The DHCP Client Service is essential to have running if your ISP assigns you a dynamic (ie not a static) IP address, and very few home users are assigned a static address, so it's a safe bet you need that service to be running. If you aren't sure whether you need that service or not (ie you don't know whether your IP address is static or dynamic)then it's best to have it running so Windows can utilize that service as and when it's required.

Click the 'Start' button, then 'Run', type services.msc and click OK. This will open the services manager. Scroll down to 'DHCP Client' and double-click it. Set it to 'Automatic' then click it's 'Start' button and the service should start. Click 'OK' to save the changes. Automatic is the default setting for this service.

And if you're still using that disconnector utility it may be good idea to stop using it. It's possible that it is stopping the service from functioning properly when it's needed.
