Every time I click on an icon on my desktop or in start it won't open without asking what program I want to open it with, and I can't open microsoft word or the programs in the control panel cause a pop up shows up saying it cannot find that application. I don't know whats going on yesterday everything was working fine, yesterday I downloaded Mcafee total protection program but I can't uninstall it to be sure if that's the problem because I can't open the add or remove programs file as I said above. The Microsoft solution center did not help. By the way I have Windows Vista

Does it mean, you didn't have any security program before?

I suggest that you start a new topic in the Malware Removal and Spyware Removal area.

Before you start a new topic click on this link --> Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide, Please read before starting a new topic. This will give you a few preparations to make, as well as instruction for posting your OTListIt2 log.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
