Can I convert video on a cd (I'm not sure what format) into a dvd playable on a commercial dvd player? Is there freeware that does this?

Hi, maybe you can download software from VSO-Software, and have a try. It offers free trial.

You can try MediaCoder. It supports a lot of formats and it is free.

In the end the disk worked in a regular dvd player 
. I didn't think a cd would work with it. Thanks for all the info though! It's all good stuff to use for the future.
