having issues installing vista

hey guys, i got that desktop that has so many viruses i decided to reinstall vista. whenever i try to boot it from my home premium 32 bit dvd, it starts normally, windows load the files but then the setup screen does not appear. instead of that, my screen stays black. i also tried to install it while vista is running, when it reboots teh files expanding stays stuck at 27%. can u tell me what's wrong and how to fix it?
