How to play game in 800x600 resolution

hello
how to play games in 800x600 resolution
in graphic option, it only displays 1024x768 and 1280x800
my default screen resolution is 1280x800, and mine is 13-inch laptop, and i have ATI HD3470 graphic card
earlier in windows vista basic, the graphic option displays both 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 and 1280x800
i don't understand how to solve the problem
maybe install ATI catalyst driver? or lower my desktop resolution?
any ideas?
