Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go! :)

Can you be more specific as to what the messages you receive say? What programs are you trying to download? What browser are you using?

EDIT: Spelling

i was trying to reinstall system mechanic and i keep getting a message telling me I'm not connected to the internet, or to turn off my firewall. i spoke with the company that makes system mechanic and they told me to try lots of things to fix the problem and they eventually told me it's my firewall and i need to turn it off. i think my computer has a virus.

if you believe your computer is infected, I suggest posting a new thread in the Virus, Spyware and Trojan Removal Forums. First, be sure to check out the Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide. This will help you disinfect the majority of malicious software from your system.

If your computer is still giving you trouble after a malware tech gives your system a clean bill of health, post back here.

Let me know who things work out! :)
