Hi

I am having an issue I have never had before. Windows xp machine, keeps dropping the network connection, I have inserted a new network card, (but that doesnt want to work), did a firmware update ( that sorted the problem out for 3 hours) Installed a new motherboard same model that is( works fine for the first couple of hours then down again). Tested the network connection on a different machine as well with testers,(no fault registered), installed new hard drive with windows xp (but still no success).

I hope somebody has a clue of how you go about fixing this problem, I am all out of ideas

Wired or wireless connection?

Cable or DSL?

Is it a shared connection (router) or are you connected directly to the Cable/DSL modem?

Who is your ISP, (Internet Service Provider)?

Wired connection.
DSL connection.
It is connected directly to the patch panel, which is in turn connected to a switch.

Its in fact a local connection error, not an ISP

Is this a business or standard home setup?

Try: 1) a different cable, 2) a different port on the patch panel, 3) bypassing the switch (direct into the patch panel)?

Hey SpywareDR

I ahve tried everything in the book, nothing works, I am starting to blame ghosts...lol well what I have done now is set the duplex speed to 1GB/s it seems to be stable, but from now and again it drops then connects.

Hopefully I wont be hearing from that client for quite a while
Thanks for everything
