Alright. First off, yes I'm new here. Anywho, I need some help as I just recently received a laptop my dad had been using, a Gateway T-1628. It was working fine and dandy, DVD drive, hard drive, everything, but it had Vista on it. So I deleted the hard drive with gparted, (which by the way would only load if I booted it in failsafe mode... odd.) After that, I put in my Windows 7 disc, and started the laptop, and it went to the black screen with an underscore as if it was loading the disc. I could hear it, however it then stopped, and moved to the next screen saying "No operating system". I am unsure what is going on here as I know the discs work, as they work on my desktop and other computers I have tried. And yes, I have changed boot mode in the BIOS to make sure that the DVD/CD is first. Also, I can successfully load the gparted disc (only in failsafe mode..) and my Ubuntu disc. So maybe my laptop just hates windows now...
