Hi, today I went on my computer and it just suddenly stopped working. The loading screen came up and then it went, and then it was just black.

I can not use system restore ( for some reason it was disabled )
Safe Mode Works.
I do not have the Windows 7 DVD.

Can you use the last known good configuration from the boot menu screen ( where you select safe mode, normal mode etc)

I installed Ubuntu ( dual boot ).
Then for the first time since I installed it I tried to boot into Windows and the black screen started happened. In an attempt to make Windows work again I went into Safe Mode and uninstalled Ubuntu. And it still dosen't work.

Looks like the boot loader is corrupted - not an expert on Linux but I do know last time I tried it on XP I ended up reformating

You can access safe mode is that correct

If you installed Ubuntu after Windows 7, then it's likely still trying to use the Grub boot loader instead of the Windows 7 BCD.

Have you tried running the Startup Repair option from the Windows 7 disk?

You may want to try Easybcd to try and correct the entries - screenshots and documentation here

I'm not very familiar with EasyBCD, but...

You should be able to access the Startup Repair options from the Advanced Boot Options screen. Tap the F8 key as the machine starts...you should get to the screen where you can choose safe mode and such. The top entry (and usually the default selection) is "Repair Your Computer"...select that and press Enter. Windows will load files and start the interface.

Select your keyboard input and click Next. Select your user name from the drop down menu and input your password if you have one...if not, leave it blank and click OK.

Choose Startup Repair as the recovery tool.
