2 days ago I was working online through the wireless router at home. I suddenly lost connection. My icon tray indicated that there were no wireless connections to be found. When I opened the wireless connection dialogue box, only one wireless connection showed "Free Wi Fi Connection." My home router was not showing nor any other wireless systems we usually detect at home. This free system had never shown at home before.

Now my wireless card does not detect any connections anywhere. I have reloaded the driver; uninstalled and installed the wireless card; and talked to my wireless provider to be sure everything was connected and running correctly (my wife still connects wirelessly at home with her laptop). I can still connect to the net through a modem.

I have a Dell Latitude D520 and run XP. I use Avast! antivirus and Ad-Aware. Have I picked up a virus or is my wireless card failing?

Perplexed and uncertain what to do.
