Upgraded the firmware of router (linksys - WRT54GS) and now laptop (running Win 7) won't connect automatically (did before upgrade). The connection is there and I can connect manually.

Have been through the router setup twice but didn't see any setting.

I guess that leaves Win 7 - but I never touched it (except Power On) after router upgrade.

Just rebooted laptop and it connected 'automatically' to network. Rebooted again to make sure. Worked !!

That's twice in a row .... maybe always now - I hope.

Only thing I did was try to create a home-group at desktop (Win said it did it - gave me security code - but
doesn't show up in Network and Sharing Center).

Bottom line is this issue RESOLVED... why - don't know
