Windows XP error reports

My computer had virus infections .When this occured i tried to remove the viruses using an antivirus program
but these programs took over my computer causing it to malfunction. the antivirus programs were competing
with each other to take over my computer popping up with no prompting.Suddenly I was receiving error reports
that 'rundll.32exe.' couldn't be found System restore was missing.
Please help I am ready togive up
