I am running Mac OS X 10.6.4

The installed firewall is On as the default setting.

I also have Norton Antivirus (Mac) 11.1.1 running with all the Automatic Protection settings turned on. I keep it up to date with weekly updates.

Do the MacBook installed firewall and the NAV Automatic protection interfere with each other? What are the best settings for optimum protection?

They shouldn't interfere. But I would recommend ditching Norton (and all resident AV) for your mac... it's really not needed. Maybe just get an on-demand scanner like ClamXAV if you will be sharing files with a PC that doesn't have good antivirus software installed. Not to mention, Norton generally causes more problems than it solves.

Little Snitch is my firewall of choice :D
