I retrieved my data from the computer using the Puppy program you recommended. I put everything on an external HD months ago before the reset.

Thanks for the recommendations. The first thing I did was remove McAfee and install Avast and Malware Bytes.

Avast issues updates every 24 hrs.
When you first boot each day, check the Avast taskbar icon for activity.
Best left to run its course before browsing or running intensive applications.
